How to Modify Global Settings in Server Exchange Manager
Set Delivery Restrictions:
To set delivery restrictions for the whole organization:
Click Start, point to programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
In the left pane, expand the global settings container, use the right mouse-click message delivery, and then click Properties.
Click the Defaults tab, and then modify the settings.
Limit the size of outgoing messages, click under the maximum outgoing message size (KB), and then type a value in the box. To remove the size limit for all outgoing messages, click there is no limit under outgoing message size.
Limit the size of incoming messages, click under the maximum incoming message size (KB), and then type a value in the box. To remove all the incoming message size limit, click the incoming message size is unlimited.
Limit the number of recipients for a single message, under recipient limits, click maximum (recipients), and then type a value in the box. To remove all limits the number of recipients, click recipient limit is no limit.
Click OK.
Create a Message Filter Rule:
Message filtering applies to your organization for each Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) virtual server is configured for all Internet Protocol (IP) address. You can have more than one IP address that is associated with the SMTP virtual server. Message filtering can be enabled for some IP addresses and not others are enabled.
Connection Filtering:
Use Connection Filtering to block messages that are received from specific SMTP servers.
Sender Filtering:
Use sender filtering to block messages sent by specific users. When you want to block unsolicited commercial e-mail messages to the users in your organization, this could be a great description.
Create a message filtering rule for the entire organization:
Click Start, point to programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
Expand the global settings container in the left pane, right-click message delivery, and then click Properties.
Click one of the following tabs, according to one type of filter that you want to configure:
- Connection Filtering
- Recipient Filtering
- Sender Filtering
Click Add, type that you want to configure, and the appropriate parameters, and then click OK.
For more information about how to configure each message type filter, click the message that you want to configure the filter description of the type of tab.
For each mail filter rules, repeat step 4, you want to create.
If you want filtered messages to be moved to the Exchsrvr\Mailroot\Server_Name\Filter folder (where Server_Name is the SMTP virtual server for message filtering), click to select the sender filtering tab of the Save filtered messages check box.
This folder is automatically created when the first message is filtered. If the Archive filtered messages check box is not selected, the filtered messages are deleted instead of being moved to this folder.
